VISION: The Vision at H.O.P.E. Through Divine Intervention is that every individual and family has the opportunity to live the American Dream of having an affordable Safe and decent place to live.
GOALS: Our Goals are to provide quality housing programs that support the transition from Homelessness to Home Ownership giving all individuals and families the opportunity to dream.
OBJECTIVE: It is our objective is to ensure that these individuals and families remain in and sustain their homes for years to come.
HISTORY: H.O.P.E. Through Divine Internvention, Inc., was established in 2001 in response to the sudden increase of chronic homeless cases in the Metro Atlanta Area. Co-founders, Jake Curtis and Selina Beene recognized the growth in homeless individuals in need of treatment and housing and the need to provide housing for individuals waiting to get into transitional programs and treatment centers.
In 2001, H.O.P.E. Through Divine Intervention, Inc., began with 12 transitional housing beds providing housing to the chronically homeless Men with special needs; Substance Abuse, Mental Health and HIV/AIDS.
In 2003, HTDI was licensed by Department of Human Services-Office of Regulartory Services as a Specialized Day Time Treatment Programs. Late 2003, Accredited by GARR, Georgia Association for Recovery Residence.
In 2005, HTDI expanded its transitional housing program from 12 beds to 21 beds and launched its Open Arms Program which provides housing and supportive services to 9 Transgendered (MTF) individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
In 2007, HTDI approved United Way Supportive Housing Provider , awarded grant of 1.5 Million-Homeless Opportunity Fund through City of Atlanta, Mayor Shirley Franklin, administrator by Atlanta Development Authority, supported by Atlanta Housing Authority, Permanent financing Capitol City Bank and supportive services-United Way Regional Commission on Homelessness.
In 2008, HTDI partnered with the United Way of Metro Atlanta Regional Commission on Homelessness to participate in the Shelter to Home Initiative to provide housing and supportive services to 45 homeless individuals who lived in homeless shelters. HTDI/H.U.G.S. launched a new program, which houses 20 women and children who were sleeping on the floor of the Gateway 24/7 Shelter. Introduced Project Link, a nine-bed housing program for chronically homeless, substance abusers, diagnosed with HIV or AIDS supported by HUD.
In 2009, implemented a rapid re-housing program for 22 marginally homeless individuals and families located in City of Atlanta/Fulton County. In November we launched our 35-unit apartment community complex offering permanent housing opportunities and case management services for the formerly chronically homeless Men.
In 2010, HTDI was approved as a State CHDO (Community Housing Development Organization) in efforts of launching its new Affordable Homeownership Programs and Partnership with Chase REO Properties.
H.O.P.E. Through Divine Intervention, Inc., has demonstrated a proven track record for providing quality housing and services to individuals and families. To date, H.O.P.E has made available over 240 beds in 9 years and is operating an array of programs and services designed to aid homeless persons in becoming self-sufficient.
